Match Review (Australia 5 - Scotland 1) - 29 Oct 2009

A historical win for the Australia team. Well done guys.

Our team fielded 9 players against the Scotland team of 6 (initially only 4):

1. Nick
2. Varley
3. Derek
4. Gordon (Super GK)
5. Cots
6. Dave
7. Jeff
8. Linus
9. Patrick

We were without no Shiuy/Neil / Leslie/Andy.

The scoring heros were Dovan (2), Linus (1), Dezza (1) and Cots (1). Gordon was brilliant and everyone (esp. Jeff in my view) worked extremely hard.

What we did well:

1. We were patient and passed the ball around. We waited for our chance for open goal and most of our goals were results of teamwork and tap-ins.

2. We were hardworking and were dogged when we chased down the player/ball.

3. We used back passes frequently to help slow the tempo and tire down the opponent.

What we could do better:

1. We need to track back faster, especially against a better team. Our keeper was not tested much most of the game because the opposing team took long shots. It will not be like that when we play against a better team.

2. Finishing has improved but there is room for improvement.

3. Run down the wings - use the width. Make opponents run more. We need to give more easy option for Gordon to pass to.
